This month we (remotely) caught up with PPT Audit Supervisor Ash Richardson. Born and bred in Cohuna, Ash moved to Ballarat to study at Federation University in 2012. At University, Ash studied Commerce, majoring in Accounting, before joining PPT in his final year.
Tell us about your role at PPT?
I’m currently an Audit Supervisor which entails planning and conducting external audits, reviewing internal controls and accounting processes, and preparing, reviewing and analysing financial statements.
What do you most enjoy about working at PPT?
Firstly, the staff and partners are a fantastic group of people to work alongside which has created a strong culture within the firm. Secondly, I enjoy travelling and working across a vast variety of industries and the different challenges each engagement brings.
How has global health pandemic changed the way you work?
Adapting to the changes due to the pandemic has had its set of challenges, with a significant impact not being able to complete engagements onsite. However, it has created alternative methods of completing audit and accounting engagements through the use of our online client portal, which enables us to collaborate and securely exchange documents efficiently with clients.
What advice would you give to businesses navigating their way out of the crisis?
In the short term, I think the key to coming out of the crisis is to be adaptable and well informed. Businesses will need to ensure safe working/collaboration spaces for staff and clients/customers alike, and I expect there may be some more flexibility with remote working arrangements for some employees.
Are you involved in local community groups or clubs? Tell us about that …
I’ve been involved at Rokewood Tennis Club for the past 4 years and somehow have managed to win two premierships.
What keeps you busy outside of work?
Recently purchased a house and have many projects underway. When time permits between projects I get away fishing and golfing.
What tv shows are you currently watching right now?
I don’t watch too many tv shows other than Kayo sports to watch any AFL game, especially the mighty Bombers.
What book are you currently reading right now?
Pete Sampras ‘A Champion’s Mind.’ I’m hoping this will bring a few more premierships to Rokewood Tennis Club.
