PPT Support Royal South Street Society Milestone
PPT is proud to announce that it’s become the naming rights sponsor for Royal South Street Society’s milestone 125th year celebrations in 2016.
A year long calendar of events has been developed to celebrate the extraordinary role Royal South Street has played in shaping our cultural advancement as a nation and providing a unique environment for young people to flourish in the performing arts.
PPT Director Jason Hargreaves said: “We’re really proud to be supporting Royal South Street Society’s milestone celebration. The events long running success is testament to the strength and commitment of the organising committee and volunteers.”
Since the official launch of the first Eisteddfod competitions in 1891, interest has steadily grown on a local, national and international scale. By 1898, the initial 260 entries had grown to over 1,000, and by the end of the 1920s, numbers were well over 3,000. Today, in a new millennium and despite the competition from many other forms of entertainment and emerging technologies, annual entries now number over 10,000.
Jason Hargreaves said “Over the years many of our staff, and their children, have participated in or attended Royal South Street competitions, so we fully understand and appreciate what the event means to Ballarat.”
