Team Profile: Dale Everett

This month we caught up with Senior Accountant Dale Everett to learn about his professional background and discover his interest in vintage cars.

Where are you originally from?

I grew up in Geelong with Mum and Dad and two sisters.  I went to Geelong College and then attended Deakin University completing a Bachelor of Commerce.  After university I moved to Ballarat for work.

What made you choose the accounting industry?

Growing up my father was a partner in a local accounting practice. At high school I enjoyed the accounting/commerce subjects which seemed like a natural progression to follow Dad’s footsteps and study accounting at university and enter public practice.

What experience do you have in the industry?

I started as a graduate accountant in 1999 at another accounting firm in Ballarat, then made the move to PPT in 2006 and I haven’t looked back since.

Do you have any particular areas of interest/specialty?

I am fortunate to work on a very broad range of clients operating in a variety of industries. I really enjoy meeting clients and assisting them to grow their businesses. I also enjoy the day to day contact with clients and assisting them with the implementation of structures and procedures to ensure they comply with constantly evolving legislation.

What are the major challenges facing clients at the moment?

New technology is helping clients streamline and improve their business operations, however these changes often require new internal processes and learning of new software applications. For some the transition is quite easy, but for others it can take a little more time. So we work closely with our clients to make sure they are comfortable and feel in control.

What keeps you busy away from work?

Outside of work I am Treasurer of Alfredton Rotary Club. The Club was founded on the motto of doing Rotary differently, dispensing with many of the traditional ways of doing things. As a result, the Club has attracted a much younger membership base and is very active in the local community.

I also enjoy club runs in and around Ballarat with the Vintage and Classic Car Club and tinkering with old cars. I also enjoy travelling and spending time with my family, including my nieces.
