Team Q&A: Ben McDonald

This month we catch up with new Lending Representative Ben McDonald, who joined PPT Capital in September. Born and bred in Ballarat, Ben talks about life at PPT, the local housing market and what keeps him busy away from work.

How are you enjoying the new role?

I enjoy the challenge of continuously learning about new products and policies. The team at PPT have been extremely welcoming and has made my transition much easier.

How is the local housing market in Ballarat at the moment?

The Ballarat housing market is really starting to grow and develop, there are many new estates in town. There is lots of construction going on, yet house prices are still realistic and affordable in most areas.

Tell us about your previous roles?

I worked with Bank of Melbourne for three and a half years.

Do you have any specific qualifications?

I am currently studying a Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking which I am really enjoying.

What keeps you busy outside of work?

I enjoy keeping fit and healthy I enjoy playing footy during winter. I am also a keen golfer during the summer months.

Are you involved in any local clubs?

I play Football for Waubra Football Club, I have played there for four years now and enjoy the country feel it has. We were lucky enough to win the premiership this year!

What tv shows are you currently watching?

I don’t stream too many tv shows and tend to prefer documentaries when I do. That said, I always have FoxSports running and it doesn’t matter what sport is on, I can watch anything!

Christmas is fast approaching, what are your plans over the break?

Christmas Day is busy catching up with both sides of the family, on Boxing Day I will go to the beach for around a week, which I love.
